In 2012 the Anglian AutoSOLO Challenge evolved following discussions between Eastern Counties Motor Club, Sporting Car Club of Norfolk and West Suffolk Motorsport Club.
The main aim was to tackle the decline of grass roots motor sport in East Anglia.
All three clubs involved were, to a greater or lesser extent, suffering from lack of competitors, organisers, and marshals for the events that they were running, and needed to pool resources in order to keep the events viable. Each club agreed to organise 2 events.
Cambridge Car Club joined in 2013, Green Belt Motor Club & Middlesex County Automobile Club joined in 2016.
However as the AutoSOLO rules are quite strict (vehicles must be taxed, tested and driven to the venue), the decision was taken to run the events under a dual Clubman AutoSOLO / Autotest permit.
